About Speechie

Speechie exists because most parents who wonder about their child's speech do not know where to start. This site is the starting point, and the service is coming.

Where things stand

Speechie is being built by a future clinician who is currently completing a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at a Canadian accredited program. In Ontario, the titles "speech-language pathologist", "speech therapist" and "SLP" are protected by law and may only be used by people registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO). The founder is not yet registered, so this site does not describe them that way and does not offer clinical services.

Once registration is confirmed, this page will show the clinician's name, credentials and registration number, exactly as they appear on the public register, so you can check for yourself.

What Speechie is for

Speechie is a brand name for a pediatric speech and language service, not a professional title. The plan is to focus on children from toddlers to early school age: late talkers, speech sound errors, language delays and stuttering, delivered virtually across Ontario first and in person later.

How the guides and tools are written

  • Who. The Speechie team writes every guide, and clinical content will be reviewed by the registered clinician once registration is confirmed. Nothing is written by a content farm or published unread.
  • How. Age norms come from published reviews such as McLeod and Crowe (2018) and Crowe and McLeod (2020), the ASHA 2023 milestones endorsed by Speech-Language and Audiology Canada, and Ontario government program pages. Sources are listed at the bottom of every guide and every tool. Drafting is assisted by software; every claim is checked against the source by a person before publishing.
  • Why. To help a parent decide what to do next, in plain language, and to point to free public help first. Ontario's Preschool Speech and Language Program is free and needs no referral. Every tool says so.
  • When. Guides carry a published date and an updated date. They are reviewed when the underlying guidance changes.

What you will not find here

No testimonials, reviews, star ratings, "best in Ontario" claims or promises about results. CASLPO's Advertising Standards prohibit all of these for registrants, and we think they are a poor basis for choosing a clinician anyway. What matters is registration, a clear plan, and whether you and your child feel comfortable.

Privacy

The tools run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into a checklist or calculator is sent to us. The waitlist form collects only a name, an email and an optional age range. See the privacy page.
