Grandview Kids' new centre in Ajax joins the long-standing Oshawa site on Townline Road South, which shortens the drive for Pickering and Ajax families. Durham District School Board and Durham Catholic District School Board both employ speech-language pathologists.

Questions Oshawa and Durham Region families ask

How do I get free speech therapy for my child in Oshawa?
Before school, parents refer directly to Durham Preschool Speech and Language, run by Grandview Kids (905-728-1673 ext. 2261 or 1-800-304-6180): no doctor referral, no diagnosis, no fee. Once in school, ask the Durham District School Board or Durham Catholic District School Board for a speech-language referral, or refer to Grandview Kids directly.
Which hospital in Oshawa has a speech-language service for children?
Lakeridge Health is the hospital route in Durham Region; specialty clinics such as feeding, cleft or voice need a physician referral. For most speech and language concerns the community program (Grandview Kids) or Grandview Kids is the faster door.
Does OHIP cover private speech therapy in Oshawa?
No. OHIP does not pay for private speech-language pathology in Oshawa or anywhere in Ontario. Many extended health plans cover part of it, and fees paid to a CASLPO-registered speech-language pathologist qualify for the medical expense tax credit.
Will Speechie offer appointments in Oshawa?
Speechie plans virtual appointments for Oshawa families once the clinician's CASLPO registration is confirmed. Until then, use Grandview Kids and join the waitlist to be notified.
